This will be my first year participating in Blazing Laptops! 

However, instead of filling the page on an LCD screen, I'll be taking it back to 1935 with a Smith-Corona Flat Top Typewriter!

San Diego Writer's Ink has been one of the biggest blessings pushing me along my path as a writer. 

I want to specifically represent the East County Writers Group, hosted by Barbara Morgan, that meets weekly to practice writing to a prompt she chooses.

I have been moved, challenged, and inspired by all the writers I've met in this group and others like it.

Their work, influence, and feedback have pushed me to improve my skills as a typewriter poet and I have since been able to write upwards of 100+ on-demand poems for strangers at local markets/events over the past couple years. 

The typewriter teaches you to move with a steady staccato. It enables the middle path.

Every timed free-writing exercise through SDWI has taught me to push through and use my "mistakes," knowing what comes out on instinct is worth more than doubt lets you see. 

It gives your natural voice a chance.

And with knowing my own better, I've been able to honor the voices/lives of other people with something written entirely for them. 

It would be my honor to give back a little to this organization with your help. Even the smallest donation will be remembered.
